A flange is a flat part of a square, round, or other shape with holes for bolts and studs, which serves for durable (nodes of long building structures, for example, trusses, beams, etc.) and for tight connection of pipes, pipe fittings, pipe connections to each other, to machines, apparatus and tanks, for connecting shafts and other rotating parts.
Standard Flat Flange Dimensions
The exact parameters of all sizes of flanges depending on the nominal pressure are presented in GOST 12820-80. The main sizes vary in the following ranges:
- diameter of the inner hole: from 10 mm to 1000 mm;
- outer diameter: from 75 mm to 1175 mm;
- the greatest thickness: from 8 mm to 25 mm;
- nominal weight: from 0.25 kg to 52.58 kg.
Flange bolted connections of the below profiles are used to connect individual small-sized building structures into whole huge structures, for example, trusses, beams, etc. in nodes of stretched structures:
- Open profile - brands, I-beams, paired corners;
- Closed profile - round and square pipes.
